| In Thai classical music, the goblet drum called the Thon is usually played simultaneously with a small frame drum called Ramana. There are two basic varieties of Thon, ceramic (Mahori) and wooden (Chatri). The elegant pottery Thon Mahori is intricately glazed. The Thon Chatri is lathe-spun and strapped with leather. The Ramana is a hardwood framed drum with studs attaching the hide. Home |
