Japanese Eisa Taiko Drums
Eisa taiko drumming is a form of dance where the drums are thrown up in the air as the drummer dances. For this reason the drums are made very light despite their size. The dance originated from the festival celebrating the visit of ancestors to the earthly realm. Later the dance became a demonstration of national pride and bravado performed for visiting emissaries.
